How to Swap Bitcoin to Ethereum on Android: Steps, Fees and Timing (2026)
How do you swap Bitcoin to Ethereum on an Android phone?
In Swappr you pick Bitcoin as the coin you have and Ethereum (ETH) as the coin you want, enter a BTC amount inside the minimum and maximum shown, paste an Ethereum address that starts with 0x, tap “Swap now”, then send the exact BTC amount from your own Bitcoin wallet to the deposit address. FixedFloat processes the swap and sends ETH once your Bitcoin deposit is confirmed. The part that is different from most swaps is the Bitcoin side: blocks arrive about every ten minutes on average, and the fee rate you choose in your wallet decides how quickly your deposit confirms. This guide covers the steps, what fees apply, and how to time the Bitcoin transaction so a fixed-rate order goes through as quoted.
Educational walkthrough, not financial advice. Rates, limits and network fees change; the numbers in the app at the moment you confirm are the ones that apply.
What you need before you start
| Item | Why | How to check |
|---|---|---|
| BTC in a wallet you control | You send the deposit yourself and can set the fee rate | Your wallet lets you choose or see the network fee before sending |
| A little extra BTC for the network fee | The Bitcoin fee is paid by the sender, on top of the swap amount | Balance covers the amount plus the fee the wallet shows |
| An Ethereum receiving address | Where the ETH is sent | Starts with 0x followed by 40 hexadecimal characters |
| Swappr from Google Play | The app that creates the order | Developer shown as GSPTeck on the listing |
No memo or destination tag is needed for ETH. If the app offers ETH on more than one network, choose the one your receiving wallet uses; for most wallets that is the Ethereum mainnet.
The swap, step by step
- Pick the pair. Set the coin you have to Bitcoin and the coin you want to Ethereum. The pair’s minimum and maximum appear right away.
- Enter the amount and choose the rate. Type the BTC amount and read the estimated ETH. Fixed Rate locks the quoted amount; Float Rate follows the market until your deposit is confirmed.
- Paste your Ethereum address. Copy it from your wallet’s receive screen and compare the first and last four characters, because clipboard malware swaps addresses. Never paste a Bitcoin address here.
- Tap “Swap now” and send. The deposit screen shows the exact BTC amount and a Bitcoin deposit address with a QR code. Send that exact amount from your wallet with a normal or faster fee rate, then tap “Sent”.
- Wait for the Bitcoin confirmation and the payout. FixedFloat runs the exchange after your deposit gets the confirmations it requires, then sends ETH to your 0x address. Keep the order ID and your Bitcoin TXID.
Fees: what you pay on a BTC to ETH swap
| Cost | Who sets it | Fixed rate | Float rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| FixedFloat service fee | FixedFloat (published on its FAQ) | 1% | 0.5% |
| Network fee for the ETH payout | Ethereum network | Plus network fee | Plus network fee |
| Bitcoin fee to send your deposit | You, in your wallet | Paid separately | Paid separately |
Swappr is free to download and contains ads. The amount Swappr shows before you confirm is the one that counts: the estimated ETH is what the order quotes. The Bitcoin fee you pay when sending is on top, and it varies with how busy the network is.
Fixed rate and Bitcoin timing: the 10-minute window
On a fixed-rate order, FixedFloat freezes the rate for 10 minutes. What has to happen inside that window is that your transaction appears on the network, not that it confirms. A Bitcoin transaction is broadcast within seconds of sending, so the window is about how quickly you send, not how quickly a block arrives. FixedFloat says that if the market moves more than 1.2% before your transaction appears, or the amount does not match, you are offered a refund or the market rate.
- Send right away. Have your wallet open before you tap “Swap now”.
- Do not use the lowest fee. A transaction with a very low fee rate can sit unconfirmed for hours when the network is busy. Your quote is safe once it has appeared, but the ETH payout waits for confirmation.
- Send the exact amount in one transaction. Split deposits or a different amount break a fixed order.
Float rate has no frozen window: the rate is set after your deposit is confirmed, so a slow Bitcoin confirmation means more market movement before the swap runs. Our guide to fixed versus float rates in crypto swaps covers the trade-off in detail.
Mistakes that cost a BTC to ETH swap
- Sending from an exchange account. Exchange withdrawals can be delayed past the 10-minute window, and they may not send the exact amount; our page on sending a swap deposit from an exchange account lists the risks.
- Adding the fee to the deposit amount wrongly. Some wallets subtract the fee from the amount you type. Check that the amount received matches the order.
- A wrong-chain ETH address. A 0x address works on several networks; make sure the network chosen in the app is one your wallet reads.
- Panicking during the wait. Look up your Bitcoin TXID on a block explorer before contacting support; our guide to tracking a crypto swap by TXID shows what each status means.
If the ETH that arrives is lower than you expected, our breakdown of why you received less crypto than the swap quote covers the usual reasons.
Swappr in one line
Swappr is a free Android app by GSPTeck (our app) for multi-coin swaps processed by FixedFloat, with each coin labelled by network, the minimum, maximum and estimated amount shown before you confirm, and a deposit screen with a QR code. Honest limits: it is Android-only, it contains ads, and it is a swap tool, not a wallet. Get it from the Swappr homepage or directly on Google Play.
FAQ
How long does a Bitcoin to Ethereum swap take?
Mostly as long as your Bitcoin deposit takes to confirm. Blocks arrive about every ten minutes on average, and a low fee rate can add a long wait; the ETH payout follows once the deposit is confirmed.
What Ethereum address should I use?
Your own Ethereum address starting with 0x, from a wallet that reads the network chosen in the app. Do not use a Bitcoin address or an exchange address that needs a memo.
Can I lose my fixed rate if Bitcoin confirms slowly?
The fixed rate depends on your transaction appearing on the network within 10 minutes, not on confirming. Send promptly with the exact amount and a normal fee rate.
Do I need an account to swap BTC to ETH?
No account is needed in Swappr. FixedFloat may still pause an order for checks in some cases, such as funds linked to crime.
