How to Swap USDT ERC20 to USDT TRC20 on Android: Steps, Fees and Checks (2026)
How do you move USDT from Ethereum (ERC20) to TRON (TRC20) on Android?
You swap it: USDT on Ethereum and USDT on TRON live on two separate blockchains, so you can't just send one to the other. In Swappr, set USDT on the Ethereum network (ERC20) as the coin you have and USDT on the TRON network (TRC20) as the coin you want. Enter the amount, paste a TRON address that starts with T, and tap "Swap now". Then send exactly that amount of ERC20 USDT from your own Ethereum wallet to the 0x deposit address shown, with a little ETH in the same wallet to pay the gas. FixedFloat processes the swap and sends USDT to your TRON address once the deposit is confirmed. This guide covers the steps, what the swap costs, and the two network checks that prevent most losses on this pair.
Educational walkthrough, not financial advice. Rates, limits and network fees change. The numbers in the app when you confirm are the ones that apply.
Why you can't just send ERC20 USDT to a TRON address
Tether issues USD₮ on several blockchains, and each chain keeps its own ledger. A TRON address won't be accepted as an Ethereum address, so a wallet will usually refuse the transfer outright. The real risk is the opposite mix-up: pasting an Ethereum-style 0x address into a form where the network is set to something else. Our comparison of USDT on TRC20, BEP20 and ERC20 explains the differences. To move between them you need either a bridge or a cross-chain swap; for USDT on these two networks, a swap is the simple route.
What you need before you start
- ERC20 USDT in a wallet you control. You send the deposit yourself, so you need a wallet that shows USDT on Ethereum.
- Some ETH in that same wallet. Every Ethereum transaction pays gas in ETH, as ethereum.org explains, and a token transfer uses more gas than a plain ETH transfer. Without ETH, the USDT can't move.
- A TRON receiving address. 34 characters starting with a capital T, copied from your wallet's receive screen for USDT on TRON.
- Swappr from Google Play. The listing should show GSPTeck as the developer.
The swap, step by step
- Pick the pair. Set the coin you have to USDT and check the network label says Ethereum or ERC20. Set the coin you want to USDT and check the label says TRON or TRC20. If either network isn't listed in the app at that moment, the pair isn't available; don't pick a different network "to make it work".
- Enter the amount and choose the rate. The pair's minimum, maximum and estimated USDT appear on the form. Fixed Rate locks the quoted amount; Float Rate follows the market until your deposit is confirmed. For two versions of the same stablecoin, the difference is usually small, but read the estimate either way. Our guide to fixed vs float rates covers the trade-off.
- Paste your TRON address. Compare the first and last four characters after pasting.
- Tap "Swap now" and send the USDT. The deposit screen shows the exact amount and an Ethereum deposit address (0x…) with a QR code. From your wallet, choose USDT (not ETH), paste the address, enter the exact amount and send it in one transaction. Then tap "Sent".
- Wait for confirmation and the payout. Once the Ethereum deposit has the confirmations FixedFloat requires, it sends USDT to your T address. Keep the order ID and your transaction hash.
What the swap costs
There are three separate costs. FixedFloat's FAQ lists its service fee as 1% plus the network fee on a fixed-rate order, and 0.5% plus the network fee on a float-rate order. The TRON network fee for the payout is part of that "plus network fee". The Ethereum gas for your deposit is paid separately, in ETH, from your wallet, and it depends on how busy Ethereum is when you send. Swappr is free to download and contains ads.
Ethereum gas doesn't scale with the amount you send, so it weighs more on small amounts. Check the gas estimate your wallet shows before you confirm; if it's a large share of the amount, it may be worth waiting for a quieter time or moving a larger amount at once.
Timing on a fixed-rate order
FixedFloat says fixed rates freeze for 10 minutes, that your transaction must be received within that window, and that the amount must exactly match the order. Otherwise you're offered a refund or the market rate. In practice:
- Have your wallet open and the ETH for gas ready before you tap "Swap now".
- Don't choose the lowest gas setting. A deposit with too low a fee can sit pending; if that happens, see what to do when an Ethereum swap deposit is stuck pending.
- Send from your own wallet rather than straight from an exchange account, where withdrawals can be delayed and fees taken from the amount.
Two checks that prevent most losses
- The deposit is a USDT transfer, not an approval. Sending tokens to a deposit address is a plain transfer. If your wallet asks you to "approve" spending of your USDT, you're on the wrong screen or the wrong site; stop. On a block explorer the deposit will show a value of 0 ETH with a token transfer line for USDT; that's normal.
- You can move the USDT afterwards. Receiving on TRON is free for you, but sending TRC20 USDT later usually needs TRX in that address for bandwidth and energy. Read why you need TRX to send USDT on TRON before you plan the next step.
After the swap: confirming the payout
When the order shows as finished, open your TRON wallet and check the USDT balance on the TRON network. If the wallet shows several USDT entries, make sure you're looking at the TRC20 one. FixedFloat's FAQ says links to the explorer appear on the order page once transactions are on the network; opening the payout on a TRON explorer shows the receiving address and the amount. If the order says the payout was sent but your wallet doesn't show it, compare the receiving address on the explorer with the one in your wallet before contacting support. Most "missing" payouts turn out to be a wallet hiding the token or watching a different address.
FAQ
Is USDT on ERC20 the same as USDT on TRC20?
Both are USD₮ issued by Tether, but they live on different blockchains with separate ledgers. Your wallet has to support the network you receive on, and you can't send one directly to an address on the other network.
Do I need ETH to swap ERC20 USDT?
Yes. You send the deposit from your own Ethereum wallet, and Ethereum gas is paid in ETH. Keep a little ETH in the same wallet as the USDT before you start the swap.
How long does an ERC20 to TRC20 USDT swap take?
It depends mostly on how quickly your Ethereum deposit confirms, which depends on the gas you set and how busy the network is. The payout is sent automatically once the deposit has the required confirmations.
What fee does Swappr charge for this swap?
Swaps in Swappr are processed by FixedFloat, whose FAQ lists 1% plus network fee for fixed-rate orders and 0.5% plus network fee for float-rate orders. Your own Ethereum gas is paid separately. The app shows the estimated amount you'll receive before you confirm.
